P 51D at 1/24 second part
Model is from TRUMPETER, build by Patrick SPITAELS.
Ok , job is close of the end now....well as a second part here i can show that the exhausts of the kits were rebuild, using plastic tube, i use the kit shoulders but with more time i'll try to make other ones ! I also sand a bit the back spine, so it doesn't look so big .I've also face troubles with the movable parts, flaps and stabilisators. In fact i didn't use the metal parts as i want the parts glue.....don't want to play with ! They are a bit thick and are not easy to place, specially for the flaps ! I've got to add some putty with the junction flaps/wings..... building the gears i didn't use the spring....looks a bit strange with that....maybe breakable too ?. well, time was to clean the plastic, ready for the paint ! Oh i forgot, take care when taking out the front canopy....it's thick and the sprue is just in the middle of the clear part....! The guns were also rebiuld with plastic tubes.About the paint, i first paint the blue parts ( TESTOR) and black lines. Then a coat of BARE METAL from a Tamiya spray, then a coat of Aluminium on the wings, still a Tamiya spray. After that i spray several coats of TESTOR metalizer, beginning with dark shade...ending with aluminium.I weathered the plane as usual, with SMOKE from Tamiya. decals are from the new EAGLE STRIKE decal sheet,they went very well !So, now i've just to finished all the small things as the clear parts; canopy, radio wire...and a coat of varnish ! It took times to build it, but at the end it looks a great MUSTANG !
